Reality Hack @ MIT 2026

CareNest is an AR-powered solution designed to alleviate the cognitive load of infant feeding for exhausted parents and caregivers. By using Snap Spectacles and simple marker stickers, it transforms ordinary baby bottles into "smart containers" that display real-time safety information.

The system externalizes the mental math of tracking milk expiration windows (which vary by milk type and storage temperature), ensuring that every member of a care community—from parents to nannies and grandparents—operates from a single, synchronized source of truth.

Key Features

The AR interface keeps time-sensitive feeding information visible at the moment caregivers handle each bottle.

  • AR Visual Overlays: Glanceable, real-time data (milk type, storage status, and expiration countdown) anchored directly to physical bottles via Snap Spectacles.
  • Color-Coded Safety Indicators: Instant visual cues — green for safe, yellow for expiring soon, and red for expired — designed for low-cognitive-load environments.
  • Gesture-Based Interaction: Simple tap gestures to change storage status, start feeding sessions, or log disposal.
  • Real-Time Synchronization: Multi-device synchronization across Spectacles, web dashboard, and mobile with updates within 200ms.
  • AI Medical Assistant: A Gemini-powered RAG assistant grounded in official CDC, AAP, and WHO guidelines.
